Procedure Text

    Procedure text atau teks prosedur adalah jenis teks yang menjelaskan cara-cara atau tahapan dalam melakukan suatu hal secara berurutan, baik itu dalam mengoperasikan maupun membuat sesuatu.
    Procedure text is a text that explains the steps on doing or making something.

 
Procedure text terdiri atas beberapa bagian (generic structure), yaitu:

• goal (tujuan)
• materials/ingredients (bahan/alat)
• steps (tahapan)

 
 Ciri-ciri kebahasaan (language features) procedure text adalah sebagai berikut:

• menggunakan imperative sentences atau kalimat perintah, contohnya:
  Take a tablespoon of sugar, Set the oven to 175 degrees celcius
  perhatikan bahwa imperative sentences biasanya diawali dengan kata kerja.
• banyak menggunakan adverbs (kata keterangan) contohnya:
  mix it well, cook it slowly 
• menggunakan action verbs, contohnya:
  mix, boil, cook
• menggunakan simple present tense

 
 Tujuan (purpose) dari procedure text:

• menjelaskan tahapan dalam membuat/mengoperasikan sesuatu secara berurutan kepada pembaca

Contoh procedure text

How to Install and Operate a DVD Player

Materials:

1. TV
2. a DVD player and the peripherals
3. a working DVD disc

Steps:

1. Make sure the TV you are using is turned off before installing a DVD player. To make it even safer, unplug the TV cord from the electrical source
2. Unbox the DVD player and make sure that everything is complete or no part is missing from it
3. Plug the DVD player's cable into the player, there are usually three cables with red, white and yellow colors
4. Plug the colored cables to the TV, make sure the color matches the ones on the TV
5. Don't forget to plug in the source cable to an electrical source, because your DVD player will get power from your home electricity, not the TV
6. Turn the TV and the DVD player on or plug it back and turn both on, then set the TV channel to the DVD player's channel by pressing a certain button assigned on the TV remote
7. Press the eject/open button on the DVD player and insert the disc when the disc tray is open, close it back and enjoy your movie

How to Make a Pancake

INGREDIENTS :

• 3 – 4 spoonful of flour
• 2 eggs
• 1 ½ (250 ml) of milk
• 1 stick of butter

MATERIALS :

• 1 mixing bowl
• 2 table spoons
• 2 cups
• 1 small pan

PROCEDURE :

1. Put the flour in the bowl.
2. Put milk in a cup.
3. Make sure it’s 250 ml of milk.
4. Put the milk in the bowl.
5. Crack open the 2 eggs into the bowl.
6. Mix it with a spoon
7. Heat up the pan and put the butter in
8. Put the mix in the pan.
9. Let the pancake mix cook for about 5 minutes
10. Flip pancake over when the top is brown
11. Your pancake its ready to be served

How to Make a Cup of Coffee

Materials and ingredients :

• Water
• Sugar
• Coffee
• Glass
• Spoon
• Kettle
• Milk (optional)

Steps :

1. Boil the water first
2. Second, take two spoons of coffee and two spoons of sugar. and put it into the cup
3. Next, pour the hot water into the cup
4. Then, stir it gently
5. Finally, your coffee is ready to drink

How to Make Iced Tea

Ingredients :

• Tea bag or grinded tea
• Sugar
• Ice cubes
• Water

Instructions :

1. Boil the water
2. Pour the water into the glass
3. Steep tea
4. Strain the tea if you used loose leaves, or remove the tea bags.
5. Add sugar and stir well
6. Add the ice cubes
7. Serve and enjoy

How to Make Special Fried Rice with Egg

Ingredients :

• Salt as much as you wish
• Cayenne pepper 
• The sauce. It can be tomato sauce, spicy sauce, or ketchup
• Pepper
• Cooking oil 
• a plate of rice
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 2 eggs / as you wish
• 2 cloves of shallot

Steps:

• Blend the spices including onion, garlic, chili, pepper, and salt
• Pour enough oil into skillet and heat
• Once hot, add the mashed spice, stir until a fragrant scent is coming out
• Add the eggs and stir until cooked
• Mix the supplementary ingredients according to your taste, and stir until evenly distributed
• Mix in the white rice and stir until mixed with all the condiments and complementary materials
• If it smells fragrant, lift the rice and serve it on a plate
• In order to make it look more interesting, a special egg fried rice can be decorated.
